Saudi Arabia Executes 81 People in a Single Day

Saudi Arabia has executed 81 people in a single day (free link), the most in its history.

Most of those executed on Saturday were Saudis, according to the interior ministry. More than half were from the minority Shiite Muslim population, which has a history of militancy and protest against discrimination. Seven were Yemeni nationals and one was Syrian.

The Saudi Government did not specify the method of execution. Gulf News reports 37 of the men were Saudis who had been found guilty of attempting to assassinate security officers.

According to the Saudi Press Agency: [More...]

Crimes committed by these individuals also include pledging allegiance to foreign terrorist organizations, such as ISIS, Al Qaeda, and the Houthis, targeting residents in the Kingdom and traveling to regional conflict zones to join terrorist organizations.

To assure everyone that the men had been fairly convicted and sentenced, the Press Agency adds:

The aforementioned individuals were arrested, tried in Saudi courts, through trials overseen by a total of 13 judges over 3 separate stages of trial for each individual. The accused were provided with the right to an attorney and were guaranteed their full rights under Saudi law during the judicial process, which found them guilty of committing multiple heinous crimes that left a large number of civilians and law enforcement officers dead.

The watchdog group, European Saudi Organization for Human Rights, disagrees, saying in many of the 81 cases, not a single drop of blood was spilled. And among the cases it had been able to document,

[I]t had found no charges that merited the death penalty under the criteria that Saudi Arabia has made public. Some of the charges were related to participation in human rights demonstrations, the group said.

And contrary to the Saudi Government's claim, the group said:

[I]t had documented cases in which defendants had been denied access to a lawyer, tortured and held incommunicado.

    No doubt is.
But so is, for instance, drawing and quartering. Among many other ways humans kill people.

executions explain why the Bone Saw Prince did not take President Biden's phone calls as he rallied nations in support of Ukraine. And, for discussions on an increase in oil production so as to replace, in part, Russian oil.

Perhaps, the executions even took priority over speaking to President Biden over their grips on Yemen, Iran, and immunity for the Bone Saw Prince. N

South Carolina is now prepared to carry out executions by firing squad," the Greenville News reports.

"Once approval comes from the state Supreme Court, the death sentences facing the state's 35 death-row inmates can follow."

Saudi Arabia continues to be a leading executioner. It will be great when the death penalty is abolished throughout the United States.

WASHINGTON -- The Biden administration has transferred a significant number of Patriot antimissile interceptors to Saudi Arabia within the past month, fulfilling Riyadh's urgent request for a resupply amid sharp tensions in the relationship, senior U.S. officials said.

The transfers sought to ensure that Saudi Arabia is adequately supplied with the defensive munitions it needs to fend off drone and missile attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen, one of the officials said.

The Saudi military had been appealing to the U.S. since late last year for more Patriot interceptors---missiles used to shoot down airborne weapons--warning that their supply was running dangerously low.
